My laptop was stolen out of my car a couple months ago. I’m sure you’re asking yourself why on earth did you leave it in the car Jill? Well don’t ask, I know it was dumb, but that wasn’t the plan.
That night my Bestfriend and I went out as soon as I got out of class that day. It was Thursday and if you are a bronco, it’s drink specials everywhere. We took advantage. After a night of hanging at the University Roadhouse, for their awesome buffalo chicken dip (I wasn’t a veggie at the time) and heading next door for $6 pitchers at Waldos Tavern, we called it a night.
We got back to her place at about midnight, long story short I fell asleep and woke up the next morning just in time for class.
I made it all the way home to realize it was gone. This was the saddest day of my life, I swear it to you. I didn’t everything on my laptop. They took my entire book bag with textbooks, classwork and everything. EVEN THE CHARGER, lucky bastards!
I had a MacBook Air, the best device of all time. But here’s the point of this post. I learned just a few weeks ago, that you want your thief the log in. I wish my thief could’ve logged in.
So, each device comes with a guest login. If you’re anything like me, you delete this. You don’t plan on any guest using your personal computer. In the moment this happens, you log them in your account, right. Ok, bad idea. You should keep the guest login option.
In addition to the guest log in, you always want you computer to lock after it sleeps. This will send who ever isn’t the owner to the login screen. If the don’t know your password they’re able to use guest. This allows them to connect to wifi. This also allows them to be tracked using the FindMyiPhone App, while keeping all your personal data secure.
Talk about lesson learned. I miss my computer, it would definitely help with this blogging life. My iPhone is my only mobile device and it’s suffering from low storage, constant dying battery, several apps opened all at once. I can’t wait to be able to afford a laptop again, it’s the first thing on my list for purchase.
I had to share this info, thanks to BrothaTech for his post a while back on the matter. I hope this info helps someone or all of you. Thanks for supporting.
